Fantasy Flight 2010 was a huge success for JLCS!
On Saturday December 11th, the JLCS partnered with Skywest Airlines to provide a magical night of Christmas for fifty-five Southern Colorado children and their families. Garden of the Gods Gourmet generously donated a lovely dinner for all of the families to enjoy! The children then participated in various activities while waiting for their magical flight to arrive. Sky Sox mascot Sox the Fox joined us, we had a face painter, US Olympic Athletes autographed calendars, a mini-petting zoo arrived, all while a high school band played Christmas music.
Children boarded the Flight, along with two volunteer crews from Skywest to fly in the sky for thirty minutes. Children then arrived at the East Terminal of the Colorado Springs Airport, which had been transformed into a winter wonderland, thanks to all of our JLCS and Skywest volunteers! Children participated in four different activities: games (such as a beanbag toss, pin the nose of the snowman); our very own Kids in the Kitchen program helped children create an edible and healthy snowman, children made picture frames and created cards for the family, and the favorite - a visit on Santa's lap. Each child received a special gift. The Deicing Solutions Company generously donated $500.00 for the gifts this year! We appreciate Channels 5 and 13 for interviewing and recording the evening - we are thankful for their recognition of this great event!
