Focus Area

After several months of research and insight from a Community Advisory Board (CAB), the JLCS membership voted in the Spring of 2016 to revocus our efforts and commit to “Fostering Change” within our community. JLCS is excited to embark on this new focus area and the opportunities that come with it to serve our community in a new way!

Currently, the JLCS Project Research Development Committee is diving into the details of what projects can look like to meet this focus area. We are reaching out to organizations who already have similar missions and contacting them about what possible collaboration could look like. We hope they will join us as community partners under the Fostering Change umbrella to provide better foster teen transitions and opportunities. If you feel you or your organization shares this mission and desire to collaborate, please contact Molly Kinne, our JLCS Fostering Change committee chair at mollsk@gmail.com.

Project Goal Overview:
Under this new focus area, the goal of the JLCS is to provide life skills assistance and mentorship to help guide foster care teens in the successful transition from the foster system to independent living and to avoid homelessness and prevent domestic violence and human trafficking.
